The fund-raising efforts of the Busy Bees are primarily
used to maintain the Old Avon Church Building. This building was built at the turn of the century with labor and materials donated by the people of
Avon. It is a very special part of Avon's heritage. Most winters the women put together a beautiful quilt to be raffled off at the neighboring Deary Day celebration in August.
In 1990 the Busy Bees published a collection of oral histories of the area as told by local residents, called Bear Creek to Avon, Stories The
and Now. |

A Country Day Book, produced and published by the Busy Bees in 1998, is an assortment of recipes, helpful household hints and storytelling. This special journal can be used in numerous ways: as a Farm Log, Nature Log, Garden Journal, Diary.
The Garden Of Your Business
First plant four rows of peas: Presence, Promptness, Preparation, and Perseverance. Next to these plant three rows of squash: Squash gossip, Squash indifference, Squash criticisms. Then plant five rows of lettuce: Let us obey rules and regulations Let us be true to our obligations Let us be faithful to duty Let us be loyal and unselfish Let us love one another. No garden is complete without turnips: Turn up for meetings Turn up with a smile Turn up with new ideas Turn up with determination to make eveything count for something good and worthwhile. |
