Mrs. Royalty and Ms. Kenyon have been teaching fifth grade together at Lena Whitmore for many years. In that time, they have developed strategies and practices that are unique and supportive of learners in this age group.
In order to use each teacher's strengths and better meet the needs of each student, the curriculum is divided; Mrs. Royalty teaches math and social studies. Ms. Kenyon teaches language arts and science. Both teachers teach technology and other subjects.
Students move between classrooms according to a schedule that allows flexibility while providing structure to each day. In addition, students attend music and physical education classes with specialists.
Please be sure that your child arrives on the playground after 8:15 A.M.

- Respect others.
If a student has difficulty working within these guidelines, a teacher may conference with him/her for a short time after school. When a student is retained for more than 10 minutes, or if the problem continues, parents will be notified.

The classes enjoy 3 parties during the school year, at Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines Day. The teachers prepare the treats for the parties. Each child is asked to bring $3.00 before the first party to cover the cost of all of them.
Both teachers are usually available each school day from 10:55 to 11:40 AM, as well as before and after school.
