Ozzie was diagnosed with arthritis earlier this year; for it he was taking two baby aspirin, two glucosamine/chondroitin (500mg/400mg) tablets, and two fish oil capsules a day. We stopped giving him the aspirin when he was taking prednisone earlier in the chemo protocol, and we didn't re-start it (we kept giving him the glucosamine/chondroitin and fish oil) when the prednisone stopped, but he started to get stiff joints again. So I called the vet to see if it would be all right to give him aspirin again; the answer was yes, so he's back to a baby aspirin in the morning and in the evening. He was getting "people" glucosamine/chondroitin, but I found some "Hip Action" beef dog treats that have 300 mg of glucosamine and 250 mg of chondroitin, and there wasn't anything else in the treats that Ozzie shouldn't have (we're limiting carbs and sugars), so he now gets three treats a day. He seems better, and he likes the treats.
Ozzie had a blood draw Thursday afternoon; he weighed 40.2 pounds, which was the same as two weeks ago. It's good he's not gaining weight with his diet and limited exercise.
