Ozzie's Lymphosarcoma Blog for Week of April 20, 2007 (post chemo, now in remission)

This week started out well, Ozzie is feeling good now after his several day bout of diarrhea and the weather is still nice. It's such a relief to have had good results of a follow-up blood test and to have him feeling like his old self.

The days have gone well, which is very good news, considering what all could be happening with him. On Tuesday morning we gave him the last of the 14 Metronidazole pills that were to counteract any bacteria that might have gotten into his GI tract and caused his diarrhea. All seems well with his GI process, he isn't waking anyone to go outside in the middle of the night. We get in walks on nice days, and he's excited to get out and smell things. His tail wags with eagerness; a dog in remission is a beautiful sight. I took a few new photos of Ozzie, and one is on this web page (and the week of March 23rd), and should be on following weeks.

The week ended well; Ozzie has been back to being his old self, and he is rather old, will be 12 in June. I've adjusted his food to match his calorie needs and tummy balance; he still gets four small meals a day, but over a day he now gets two-thirds of a can of n/d dog food instead of a whole can, still with about a half cup over the day of dry Iams mini-chunks dog food. The n/d is high in calories, and if Ozzie weighed closer to 40 pounds, that would be good.
