Ozzie National Canine Cancer Foundation
Ozzie's Lymphosarcoma Blog for Week of November 17, 2006 (chemo protocol week #11)

Since Ozzie's PMNs were too low for chemo last week, we skipped last week's protocol, which makes him scheduled for an injection of Vincristine this week. The results of his blood draw on Thursday were very good; his PCV (packed cell volume, red cells) count was 41 and his PMNs were 8900 (needs to be above 3200), so the chemotherapy protocol is back on schedule.

Ozzie's injection of Vincristine went well Friday afternoon, having liver treats at the end of the process doesn't hurt, either. The Vincristine is the easiest of all the different treatments. He didn't seem to have any bad reaction to the injection; he was tired on Friday evening, but in good spirits.

The chemotherapy protocol now has injections every other week (weeks 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, and finally 25), so it will be nice not to have to schedule a blood draw and injection every week.

The week went well for Ozzie; we had a lot to be thankful for with his good health. We skipped a bath again this week, and since this is an off week for chemo, we didn't need a blood draw this week.
