Ozzie was scheduled for an injection of Vincristine this week, the tenth week of the chemo protocol, but our veterinarian called us Friday morning to say that even though Ozzie's PCV (the number we were monitoring for anemia) is excellent (it's 39.4), Ozzie's white cell PMNs count was very low, it was 2500, when it needs to be more than 3200. So, we will not have any chemo this week; we'll do a blood test next week Thursday to see if the PMNs are higher. In spite of the low PMN, Ozzie seems to be healthy, but we'll monitor him to be sure nothing is untoward.
Ozzie had a good week, he was playful and attentive; he even managed to get in a few r-i-d-e-s in the car. I skipped a bath for him this week; he seemed clean, and it was nice to skip it. We went in on Thursday for Ozzie's weigh-in and blood draw. He weighs 40.2 pounds, a little less than last week, which is good. His n/d dog food is high in calories, and he doesn't get much exercise, so it's nice to see his weight stay closer to 40 pounds. We'll go in tomorrow for the protocol for Week 11.
