Ozzie's appointment went well; he is getting used to the routine of going to the vet and holding still for either a blood draw or chemo injection, though one can still hear a "grrrrr" deep in his throat. Just to be sure, the vet puts a muzzle on Ozzie to ensure he doesn't snap at the vet or an assistant. But once it's all over, the muzzle comes off and his tail is again wagging; the liver treats help, too.
We're in week 21 now, with four more weeks to go; two more injections and then we see if he stays in remission. Ozzie's hair seems to be growing back in, it's not as thin as it has been lately, which is good because it's winter and the temperature is in the 20s during the day. Now we'll monitor him to see if he has any sort of bad reaction to this week's injection.
Ozzie didn't seem to have any bad reaction to the Cytoxan injection on Friday; his tummy was fine, he was a little quiet over the weekend, but as the week progressed he was feeling like his normal self. His fur is so interesting now that it's growing back; he looks like a golden lamb with his shorter, curlier hair. Then there are a few longer, straggler strands of hair every here and there on his body, so he has an odd look about him. He won't be entering the Westminster Dog Show next week, that's "fur" sure.
This week ended with a nice day on Thursday; with the sunshine out, Ozzie and I took a little longer walk than we had been taking in recent months. I was careful about where he walked since his immune system is still weakened by the chemo. We hope spring isn't far away.
