Moscow First United Methodist Church
Worshiping, Supporting, Renewing
[Revised 1/14/2009]
Our love
of God calls us also to love our neighbors near and far in down to earth,
practical ways. First United Methodist Church supports a variety of missions
projects both right here in Moscow and around the world.
Moscow Food Bank: Donations of non perishable items
can be brought at any time, but particular emphasis is on the first Sunday of
the month.
Sojourner’s
Alliance: Provides transitional housing
for families in need. First United Methodist Church not only supports their
general fund but responds to specific needs such as school supplies for children
or clothing for women preparing for a job interview.
Habitat
for Humanity: Partners with families
currently living in sub standard housing to build simple, decent homes. Palouse
Habitat is currently building a home in nearby Genesee for one such family.

Shalom Zone: This is a ministry of Central United Methodist Church in
Spokane, reaching out to homeless and low income people in downtown Spokane.
Throughout the year, First United Methodist Church collects small toiletry items
(such as those provided in motels), and each fall we collect specific items.
October 5: toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss; October 12: soap,
shampoo, and hair conditioner; October 19: deodorant, disposable razors, and
bleach; October 26: laundry soap. Bring items to the church and we will take
them to Spokane.
Jamaa Letu: This is an orphanage for girls, located in the Congo. It
is a project of the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference. These children have
been orphaned due to war, AIDS, and other crises. First United Methodist Church
sponsors one child, Patience. Ekanga Akambo. For more
