EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND SUNDAY SCHOOL!

Sunday Morning Children's Classes:

  • Preschool:  Ages 3--4 (Nursery Care provided for younger children)
  • Lower Elementary: K--3rd grade
  • Tweens: grades 4--6

 Sunday Morning Adult's Classes:

  • What Do Other Faiths Believe?  What do Christians Believe?

This class will begin by studying other world religions such as Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism.  It will move on to study traditional Christian beliefs.  By Christmas, students will be able to articulate basic Christian beliefs.  As part of this study, students will be encouraged to explore how their own beliefs vary from traditional beliefs.  This is a great class for people who are either new to the Christian faith or have always wrestled with what Christians believe even if they have been part of the church for years.  The class will be led by Pastor Sue and will meet in the Conference Room.

  • Science and Religion:  Pathways to Truth from the Wesley Ministry Network

This course uses a DVD and discussion to explore, "Can you be a Christian and take Science seriously?"  The class is designed for people who want to ask hard questions and speaks in particular to those who have wrestled with the intersection of science and faith.  The class will be led by Dr. Tim Prather and will meet in the Parlor.

Sunday Evening Class: (during the Connection Service)

K -- 3rd grade Class:  (begins right after children's moment)

We promote Christian education and spiritual growth for all.

Just as worship is at the center of who we are as the people of God, so Christian education is a critical part of our ministry. Particularly in a community where education is such a high value, it is important for the church to provide Christian education. Our society, both Moscow and beyond, often emphasize secular education. Parents insist their children attend school Monday through Friday. Young adults and their families spend a huge amount of money getting higher education. It is easy to forget the critical role of Christian education. Moscow First United Methodist Church claims the importance of learning about faith and experiencing faith for people of all ages. As pastor I would love to see every person in the church, from young children to senior citizens, participate in some form of Christian education. Harry Eckels was in his mid 70’s when I started seminary. He was a retired district superintendent. He lived in the dorm when I went to seminary and every semester he took one seminary class. When he died, Harry had gotten every degree ever offered by United Theological Seminary. He never stopped learning. He never stopped searching and wondering. He will always be a role model to me. You may not go to seminary, but I would challenge you to follow Harry’s example and open yourself to the chance to learn and grow.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Sue

If you have not participated in an adult class before,
why not try it...you might like it!
