November 2009
The leaves are changing and the children are
enjoying the brisk fall days. We learned all about the changing season
this month and did many activities including a nature walk to collect
fall treasures of nuts, berries, pine cones, and leaves. They also
learned about opposites and picked up the concept quickly.
Our field trip was to the Appaloosa Horse Museum. They
are great with children - the talk included hands on expriences with horses
teeth, tails, and hoof clippings. After a tour of the museum the
children had a great time playing with the horse related toys and sitting in
saddles. Their favorite part is still going out to see the real horse.
The four-year-old class had fun
experimenting with various color mixing activities to discover how secondary
colors are created. The three-year-old class focused on the color orange
and pumpkin activities. Both classes will dress in costumes for
Halloween and PCEI will come to school and do their very interesting bat
presentation for the children, including showing them the very large fruit bat
(no longer alive).
Enjoy your fall days, too
