Personally appeared before Me Thomas W. Gamewell Clerk of the County Court
of said County: C. C. Harris, Gibson Whitenton, Agatha B. Whitenton, Talitha C.
Whitenton, George A. Whitenton, Solomon Whitenton, Othneil Whitenton, &
Q. Whitenton, the foregoing persons with whom I am personally acquainted and
who acknowledged that they executed the foregoing Power of Attorney for the
purpose therein contained.
Know all men by these presents that we Cason C. Whitenton of the County of
Victoria and State of Texas and C. C. Harris, Gibson Whitenton, Agatha B. Whitenton,
Talitha C. Whitenton, George A. Whitenton, Solomon Whitenton, Othneil Whitenton,
and Quintiallian Whitenton of the State of Tennessee and Richard M. Whitenton
of the State of North Carolina, Heirs at law of William M. Whitenton, decd., late
of the County of Victoria and State of Texas, for and in consideration of the
sum of three hundred dollars cash in hand paid us by Col Wilkins Hunt of the
County of Victoria and State of Texas, The receipt where of is hereby acknowledged
and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien Release and confirm unto the
said Wilkins Hunt one certain tract or parcel of land which being and situated
in the County of Victoria and State of Texas below the town of Victoria on the
Western margin of the Guadalupe River containing three hundred and 20 acres.
It being the same tract of land occupied and located by the said William M. Whitenton,
decd, commencing on the Guadalupe River opposite the mouth of the Bayou or at the
foot of the Island above Van Norman's landing to include Wm M. Whitenton's improvements
and down the River for Quantity together with all and singular the Rights privileges
and improvements thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and also we have
granted bargained sold Released and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain
sell Alien Release and confirm unto the said Wilkins Hunt all and singular the
Right and interest which we have to the Estate of the said William M. Whitenton, decd..
As distributors and Heirs at Law of the said William M. Whitenton, decd., together
with all rights claims and privileges which have arisen or may hereafter arise
and accrue to us as distributors and heirs of lands of aforesaid to have and to
hold the said land herein before described together with all the Rights & privileges
thereunto belonging and in anywise appertaining and the said distributors share of
the Estate of William M. Whitenton, decd, with all the right claims and privileges
which to us real or accrue to us a distributors as aforesaid to him the said
Wilkins Hunt his heirs and assigns forever to their proper use and relief, and
we do hereby agree and bind to forever warrant & defend the title to the said
Wilkins Hunt to the property herein against any and all persons claiming or to claim
the same by under or thorough us.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our signatures and seals being
scrolls by way of seals on this the third day of May in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and fifty.
