In the name of the State of Texas

 

To all to whom these presents shall come know ye I Geo. T. Wood governor of the State

Jno Roberts   aforesaid by virtue of the power vested to me by law No. 12 and in accordance with the laws of

Lamar 78         said State in such cases made and provided do by these present grant to John Roberts his heirs

14,971,647     or assigns forever Fourteen 971,647/1,000,000 labors of land situated and described as follows:

sq. vrs.            In Lamar District on the South side of Red River a few miles above the mouth of Sanders Creek beginning at Cotton Wood the North        West corner of P. S. Doss' Survey on the bank of

said River from which another marked P. D. bears east 7 1/2 varas, another marked X bears South 39 degrees East 8 1/2 varas    thence South 44 degrees West up said             River two thousand and twenty varas to a cedar marked X Wm. Saddler's corner from which a cotton wood marked W. S. bears east 1 vara another marked X bears west 11 varas ~  thence South with his line two thousand nine hundred and Twenty varas to a stake from which a Red Oak marked W. S.            bears

west 4 varas and a Hickory blaze and chopped bears north 5 varas.  thence west seventy one varas to a stake in the edge of a road from which a post oak marked X bears north 4 varas.  thence South with Saddler's line six thousand six hundred and seventy varas to a stake on the

G. J. north line of Robert Price's Survey from which a large Black oak marked J. R. bears north

46 degrees East 14. varas  and another marked X bears N. 58 degrees West 14 varas. thence east with said Price's line Seven hundred and forty varas to a stake his N. E. corner from which a black oak bears N. K. W. 5 varas ~ thence North with Dillingham's line thirty eight varas to a stake said D.'s corner from which a Black oak marked X bears S. 58. E. 4 vars. thence East with said Dillingham's line seven hundred and thirty varas to a black oak said Doss' South W. corner from which another marked P. D. bears north 84 degrees E. 6 varas and a Hickory marked X bears North 1 degree West 6 varas thence North with said Doss' survey at 7600 varas a lake in all eleven thousand one hundred and twenty Six varas to the place of beginning,  hereby relinquishing to him the said John Roberts and his heirs or assigns forever all the right and title in and to said land heretofore held and possessed by the said State and I do hereby issue this Letter Patent for the Same. 

 

In Testimony whereof I have caused the Seal of the State to be affixed as well as the Seal of the General Land Office ~  Done at the City of Austin on the thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and forth eight.
