To start the coaming, foam forms are first cut to fit around the riser. Packing tape is put over these to seal them up. This creates a mold over which the fiberglass coaming is made. Since it is built directly on the boat, it will be a custom fit.

Keeping with the experimental nature of this project, I decided to
make a one piece fiberglass coaming using the Vaclav method of One Ocean Kayaks
(Thanks also to Ross Leidy and Ken "Spidey" Kemski).
